While we typically reserve this space for blogs that provide you with tips, “how-tos,” and industry related news updates, I decided to start off the new year with a lighter subject matter that we could all relate to - music!
According to Mashable, “Music is an emotional touchpoint for Millennials,” so it makes sense that music touches everything we do at Groove, from our own productivity to how we market brands.
At Groove, where the majority of us are Millenials, we integrate music with almost everything we do. I even like to think we have our very own theme song because each time we close a deal, you’ll see an account manager bang the gong while playing T. Rex’s Bang A Gong (Get it On). Each Friday, visitors at Groove should never be surprised when they hear Rebecca Black’s Friday played on repeat towards the end of the day.
This year, to nail down our findings, we surveyed each Groover and asked them to list their top five favorite songs released in 2014. You’ll notice on the list that almost everyone was able to keep it to 2014, but there were a couple of exceptions made.
The biggest exception? Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight - and that’s only because if you’re lucky enough to be in the Groove office during the main drum solo, you’ll see air drums being beat like it was a live concert. It should be noted that this playlist would have been full of Taylor Swift songs if we could listen to her tunes on Spotify, but I guess instead we’ll all just need to Shake it Off.
The Playlist
Without further ado, I’m excited to unveil Groove’s top 65 songs of 2014:
As you can tell through our music selections, we have quite the scale of personalities in our office, which makes agency life that much more fun. Need some new music inspiration or want to keep track of what we’re listening to in 2015? Make sure to follow us on Spotify today! Have a special request?
